Raymond Acting career

Lam attended the 13th TVB artists training class in 1998 as an auditing student and was offered a contract with TVB upon graduation in September 1998. In the earlier part of his career, Lam appeared as a walk-on in numerous TV series and as a host for TVB8. In 2000, Lam gained more audience attention after playing supporting roles in A Taste of Love and A Step into the Past. In 2002, Lam was offered to play the leading role in Eternal Happiness and he received the Most Improved Actor Award from TVB for his performance in Survivor's Law.

Since 2002, Lam was frequently nominated as one of the top five finalists for the Best Actor Award at the TVB Anniversary Awards. In 2006, Lam received the Favourite Actor Award in Malaysia at the 2005 Astro Wah Lai Toi TV Awards ceremony for his role as Kou Chong in Twin of Brothers. At the 40th TVB Anniversary Awards in 2007, Lam won the Mainland's Favourite Actor Award with more than 54,000 votes. He also received the Favourite Hong Kong TV Actor Award from QQ Entertainment Awards in mainland China in the same year.

In 2008, Lam won the Favourite Male Character Award at the 41st TVB Anniversary Awards for his role as Kam Wing-Ho in Moonlight Resonance. He also won the Best Drama Actor Award at the 2008 Asian Television Awards held in Singapore, for his portrayal of Tuen Hiu-Sing in The Master of Tai Chi. In addition, Lam is also the first Hong Kong actor to win the award.

Apart from his acting career, Lam also performed some of the theme songs for the TV series he acted in. In 2007, Lam signed on with EEG under its Music Plus Label, and released his debut album, Love is Finding You in Memories, on 23 November. More than 20,000 copies were sold three weeks after the album was released. In addition, the album received the IFPI Gold Disk Award and became the top-selling album for Lam as a newcomer.

On September 10, 2008, Lam released his second album Your Love, and a month after the release, the album secured a double IFPI Platinum Award for reaching sales of more than 20,000 copies. A featured song from the album, Love With No Regrets, the theme song from Moonlight Resonance, won many awards.

In 2009, Lam stepped on the Hong Kong Coliseum for the Let's Get Wet concert held on 17 and 18 June, where both nights were sold out.[1] EEG and TVB showed strong support for his concert and a billboard advertisement was featured at the entrance of Cross Harbour Tunnel to publicize the event. In memory of his first concert held at the Hong Kong Coliseum, Lam is currently preparing his first album in Mandarin, which is expected to be released soon. Lam also won the Asia-Pacific Most Popular Male Artist Award on 16 January 2010 at the Jade Solid Gold Top 10 Awards due to the contract issue between TVB and the Big Four record companies. Many Netcitizens and Hong Kong media criticized TVB for giving him that award out of commercial point. Because he is a TVB contracted actor, many artists were unable to attend this award ceremony. He became the first singer to receive the award in three years and also the youngest one ever. On July 17, 2010, Lam released his fourth album Come 2 Me. An upcoming Mandarin album that Lam sets to release on March, 2011.

Raymond too busy to have girlfriend

Hong Kong actor-singer Raymond Lam is so busy with work that he has no time for a girlfriend.

The 31-year-old is currently shooting The Legend of the White Snake in China, and TVB's The Colourful World of Sister Fa - in which he co-stars with Charmaine Sheh Sze-man.

After that, he is starting concert tours in Malaysia, US, Singapore and Vietnam.

Also within that time, he will travel to China again to shoot a TV series.


Asked if he wished to meet "a girl", Raymond laughed: "Even if I meet a girl, I will have no time for her.

When asked if his family had put any pressure on him to get married, he said: "Not directly, but this year my mum really wants me to go for match-making."

"I dare not go. It feels strange. It's not the time yet."

Raymond said he wanted a break so badly.

"A break is my dream, I hope to get 1-2 weeks off during the next Lunar New Year, so that I can go back to my hometown to visit my grandmother."

Raymond's album COME 2 ME Raymond Lam Concert DVD + CD has reached a triple platinum record (about 90,000 copies sold).

On Sunday, he flew back to Hong Kong to attend the celebration.

Raymond, who is also in the run for this year's TV King title, said he personally supported Bobby Au-Yeung (in A Pillow Case of Mystery II) to win the award.

He was also nominated for the Most Favourite TV Male Character award with the drama The Mysteries of Love, co-starred Tivia Yeung Yi.

Raymond Lam Denies Plastic Surgery on His Chin

Attending the filming of TVB’s Jade Solid Gold program, Raymond Lam Fung was asked by reporters whether he underwent recent plastic surgery on his chin to increase his good fortune this year. Raymond grabbed the hand of the reporter to feel his chin, laughing that he had always possessed a full chin since childhood. Raymond said there was no need for him to undergo plastic surgery for his chin. He laughed off the recent rumors.
